Property Pages Dashboard

The Property Pages dashboard is used to import your website's sitemap and manage the pages tracked by Spyglasses. It's primarily used with the analytics plugin to connect AI visits to specific page content and intent classifications.

What You'll Learn

In this guide, you'll learn:

  • How to import your sitemap
  • How to manage tracked pages
  • How pages connect to analytics
  • How to use page data effectively

Why Import Pages

Importing your sitemap helps Spyglasses:

  1. Connect AI visits to content: Match bot visits to specific page URLs
  2. Enable intent classification: Categorize pages by purpose (informational, transactional, etc.)
  3. Improve reporting: Show which specific pages AI platforms cite
  4. Power filtering: Enable page-based filtering in analytics dashboards

Without imported pages, analytics data shows URLs but can't provide rich page context.

Importing Your Sitemap

Automatic Import

If your site has a standard sitemap at /sitemap.xml, Spyglasses can import it automatically:

  1. Click "Import Sitemap"
  2. Spyglasses fetches your sitemap
  3. Pages are parsed and imported
  4. Import status is displayed

Manual URL Entry

If you don't have a sitemap or want to add specific pages:

  1. Click "Add Page" or "Add URL"
  2. Enter the full URL
  3. Optionally set page metadata
  4. Save

Sitemap Formats Supported

Spyglasses supports:

  • Standard XML sitemaps

ColumnDescription
URLFull page URL
TitlePage title (if available)

Intent Classification

Pages can be classified by intent:

  • Informational: Educational content, guides, how-tos
  • Transactional: Product pages, pricing, checkout
  • Navigational: Brand searches, specific page lookups
  • Commercial: Comparison, reviews, buying guides

Intent helps filter analytics data by content type. Learn more at Page Intent Classification.

Setting Intent

Intent can be:

  • Auto-detected: Based on URL patterns and content
  • Manually set: Override for specific pages
  • Bulk updated: Set intent for multiple pages at once

Pages and Analytics

Imported pages power analytics features:

Page-Level Filtering

In AI Traffic Analytics and Bot Traffic dashboards, filter by specific pages to see:

  • Which pages AI platforms cite
  • Bot crawl patterns per page
  • Traffic by content type

Page-Level Reporting

Reports can break down:

  • Citations per page
  • Click-throughs per page
  • Bot visits per page

Intent-Based Analysis

Filter entire dashboards by intent to understand:

  • Does AI prefer informational or transactional content?
  • Which intent categories drive click-throughs?
  • Where should you focus content efforts?

Best Practices

Keep Pages Updated

Regularly sync your sitemap to:

  • Add new pages
  • Remove deleted pages
  • Update metadata

Set Intents Thoughtfully

Accurate intent classification improves analytics:

  • Review auto-detected intents
  • Correct misclassifications
  • Be consistent across similar pages

Use for Content Audits

The pages list doubles as a content inventory:

  • See all tracked pages in one place
  • Identify pages by intent
  • Find gaps in content coverage

Match to Sitemap Strategy

Your Spyglasses pages should match your SEO sitemap strategy:

  • Include pages you want indexed
  • Exclude utility pages
  • Keep in sync with robots.txt

Troubleshooting

Import Fails

If sitemap import fails:

  1. Verify sitemap URL is accessible
  2. Check sitemap format is valid
  3. Ensure no authentication required
  4. Try importing a smaller section

Missing Pages

If pages aren't appearing:

  1. Check they're in your sitemap
  2. Verify URLs are correct
  3. Ensure pages aren't blocked by robots.txt
  4. Try manual URL entry

Analytics Not Matching

If analytics don't connect to pages:

  1. Verify URLs match exactly (including trailing slashes)
  2. Check for URL variations (www vs. non-www)
  3. Ensure pages are marked active
