Media Lists
Pitch the outlets AI actually reads
Build your media list with the traffic and authority numbers you already use, plus the one they miss: whether AI can see and cite the outlet. Then share it with your client for sign-off.
Media Lists at a glance
- Every outlet on the list shows its traffic, its authority, its AI Placement Value Score tier and how often AI already cites it for your prompts.
- Add any outlet by name or domain, paste a column of domains, add from Publisher Lookup, or pull in the outlets AI cites for your competitors but not you.
- Move each pitch from Target to Pitched to Placed, with a note on every row.
- Share a read-only link or PDF, white-labeled on agency plans, so your client can sign off.

The blind spot
A big number doesn't mean AI can see it
Traffic and authority scores tell you how big an outlet is. They don't tell you whether ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity can read it. Plenty of top-tier sites block AI crawlers, so a hit there never reaches an AI answer.

Start from what AI already cites
Look up any outlet by name or domain, paste a column of domains, or add outlets straight from Publisher Lookup. Or start from your earned-media gaps: the outlets AI cites for your competitors but not you. Every outlet you add shows up with its traffic, authority and AI numbers.

Work
Know where every pitch stands
Move each outlet from Target to Pitched to Placed, and keep a note on every row: the angle, the contact, the embargo. A declined outlet stays on the list, so you can pitch it again next quarter. When a scored placement lands on an outlet you pitched, the row asks if you want to mark it Placed. The status is always your team's call.

Frequently Asked Questions
Build your PR media list with traffic, authority, AI Placement Value Score and AI citation counts on every outlet. Track each pitch and share the list with your client for sign-off.
What is a media list in Spyglasses?
It's a named list of the outlets your team plans to pitch, like “Fall launch targets.” In the Spyglasses app it's called a Pitch List. Every outlet shows its traffic, its authority, its AI Placement Value Score tier and how often AI already cites it for your brand's prompts, plus a status and a note. Share it with your client when it's ready for sign-off.
Can I build a media list from Claude or another AI assistant?
Yes. Connect the Spyglasses MCP server to Claude or any MCP client, and your assistant can pull up your media lists, read one with its statuses, notes and citation counts, and add outlets to a list. Name a list that doesn't exist yet and it gets created for you. Adding outlets spends no credits.
Where do the citation counts come from?
They count how many times ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews cited a page on the outlet in answers to your brand's tracked prompts. In the app you pick a 30, 90 or 365-day window. The shared page and the PDF use the last 90 days. A zero means AI hasn't cited the outlet for these prompts yet, not that it never will.
Can my client see the list, and does it show our branding?
Yes. Turn on a public link and your client gets a read-only page with the numbers, your notes and a short guide to reading them. Nothing on it can be edited. On agency plans the page and the PDF show your agency's name and logo, with no Spyglasses branding. Turn the link off whenever you want to revoke it.
What's the difference between a media list and a coverage report?
They're two ends of the same campaign. A media list holds outlets before the story runs: the ones you plan to pitch. A coverage report holds placement URLs after it runs: the articles you landed. When a pitched outlet runs the story, mark it Placed and send its placements to a coverage report.
Can I build one list across all my clients?
Yes. Organization lists span your whole book of business, and each row can name a brand or none. Rows for a brand you track count that brand's citations, and rows with no brand count citations across every brand you track. Rows for a brand you don't track still get their scores, with citations marked Not tracked.
