Optimize · AI Readiness Site Audit

Score every page's readiness to be read and cited by AI.

The AI Readiness Site Audit is Spyglasses' page-level check for AI accessibility. It crawls your site and scores every page across seven weighted dimensions of AI readiness, from static content ratio to citation readiness, surfacing the invisible technical barriers that keep pages out of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity answers.

The audit at a glance
  • Seven weighted dimensions per page, from static content to E-E-A-T signals.
  • Audits thousands of pages and ranks them worst-first for triage.
  • Catches barriers human QA never sees: JavaScript-only content, structural deserts, slow delivery.
  • Exports as CSV; a clean current score is shareable client evidence.

Invisible barriers

Your site looks fine to people. What about to AI?

AI crawlers don't run JavaScript, give up after about two seconds, and read content in roughly 200-token windows. Pages that pass every human review can still be unreadable where it counts. The audit shows each page the way AI actually processes it.

The seven dimensions

What gets scored

Static Content Ratio

See how much content is visible without JavaScript. AI crawlers don't execute JavaScript; we show exactly what AI sees versus what users see, with side-by-side screenshots.

Citation Readiness

See the 'best chunk' an LLM would select for citation and identify 'structural deserts', content gaps that can't be extracted, analyzed in ~200-token windows exactly as ChatGPT processes them.

Structured Data

Verify the right JSON-LD schemas are present and complete for your page type, across homepage, product, informational, support, and careers pages.

Performance for AI

Measure how fast content is delivered to AI crawlers. ChatGPT has a 2-second limit; content that can't be fetched in time won't be cited.

E-E-A-T Signals

Check 14 core trust and authority signals at brand and page level: author attribution, external citations, freshness, and machine-readable dates.

Readability

Ensure content matches AI default writing styles. Content that's too complex or too simple gets rewritten by AI, wasting your carefully crafted messaging.

Accessibility

Run focused accessibility checks that influence AI's ability to understand your content; semantic HTML benefits AI interpretation too.

Page by page, at scale

Thousands of pages, worst-first

Audit single pages, path patterns, or whole sections. Aggregate scores plus per-page breakdowns rank the worst offenders first, so the fix list writes itself.

A clean, current audit score is evidence you can put in front of a client.

AI Readiness Audit FAQ

Common questions about the audit.

What is an AI Readiness Audit?

An AI Readiness Audit crawls your website and scores each page across seven dimensions that influence whether AI systems can discover, understand, and cite your content. Unlike traditional SEO audits, it focuses specifically on how AI systems process and extract information from your pages.

How is this different from SEO audit tools?

SEO audit tools focus on traditional search engine optimization factors. Our AI Readiness Audit includes unique checks like static content rendering (showing what AI sees without JavaScript), chunk analysis (showing the exact 'best chunk' an LLM would select), and structural desert mapping, features that don't exist in traditional SEO tools.

What are the seven dimensions you check?

We check: (1) Static Content Ratio, (2) Citation Readiness with chunk analysis, (3) Structured Data, (4) Performance for AI, (5) E-E-A-T Signals, (6) Readability, and (7) Accessibility. Each is scored 0-100 and weighted into the page's overall score.

Why does static content ratio matter?

When AI assistants cite your page they don't use JavaScript. If your content is rendered client-side (React, Vue, SPAs), these crawlers may see little or no content. Our audit compares static HTML against fully rendered content with side-by-side screenshots so you can see exactly what AI sees.

What is a 'structural desert'?

A span of content with no headings, list items, paragraph breaks, or other structural markers. When AI processes content in ~200-token windows, deserts mean consecutive windows with no structural context, so the content is unlikely to be cited. The audit shows exactly where they occur.

How does this relate to AI Visibility Reports?

Visibility Reports show how often your brand appears in AI responses. Readiness Audits find and fix the technical issues that keep your content from being selected in the first place. They're complementary: measure with one, optimize with the other.

How much does an audit cost?

Pay-as-you-go customers are charged 1 credit per 50 pages (minimum 1 credit per audit). Brand plans include 250 pages per month, and Agency Core plans include 2,500 pages per month.

Can I audit specific sections of my site?

Yes. Filter pages by type (homepage, product, informational, etc.), by path patterns (e.g., /blog* or /products/*), or select from saved page groups, so audits focus where you're working.

How do I interpret the scores?

Each dimension scores 0-100: green (70-100) is well optimized, yellow (40-69) has room to improve, red (0-39) is a critical issue. The page score is a weighted average of applicable dimensions.

Can I export audit results?

Yes, as CSV: summary statistics, per-page scores, and all dimension breakdowns, ready to share with your team or track over time.
